LED lights for premium \u201cBijenkorf\u201d stores<\/h2>\n

Bijenkorf\u00a0stores are part of Holland\u2019s shopping heritage. Once a mid-segment department store,\u00a0Bijenkorf\u00a0nowadays offers customers\u00a0a\u00a0premium luxury experience on key locations in Holland\u2019s major cities, where it is obvious that the building should reflect the store\u2019s luxury positioning, and attract more customers\u00a0by drawing them in with\u00a0keen lighting.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For this task Ampco Flashlight Sales was asked\u00a0by architect\u00a0Rijnboutt\u00a0and Lighting architect\u00a0BeersNielsen\u00a0to work on the lighting of the glass-paneled facade of the well-known Utrecht\u00a0department. Not a simple task: Working within the architectural boundaries, on a budget, with a result that serves both class and sustainability.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of the reflecting glass paneling, lighting from outside was impossible\u201d explains Bas van\u00a0Schelven, project manager for Ampco Flashlight Sales. \u201cWe needed to light from the inside, using our creativity within the physical and technical possibilities\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The glass-covered facade is held up by three \u2018towers\u2019 holding lit banners. The floors right behind the glass paneling was equipped with LED-strips to highlight the shape and content of the building. The installed Acclaim\u00a0LEDstrips\u00a0offer a very low pitch, meaning a fluent\u00a0colourmixing\u00a0without determining individual LEDs. IP65 class rating makes them safe against the window washer\u2019s actions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The result<\/h2>\n

To blend in perfectly with design and architectural specs, Ampco Flashlight used custom made mounting profiles for almost invisible mounting of the fixtures. Control is possible via\u00a0an\u00a0ART SSC lighting computer and ART B-6 button stations for programmed\u00a0colour\u00a0schemes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Utrecht Branch now reflects the\u00a0Bijenkorf\u00a0premium position, and there is more to come,\u00a0adds Bas:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEvery\u00a0Bijenkorf\u00a0houses in a different building and in a different environment, varying from classical to Utrecht\u2019s building with more contemporary style. We already started working on the Rotterdam building that offers new\u00a0possibilites\u00a0and challenges. A great project for us, which\u00a0we expect to finish mid 2019\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
